Hi,
Thought I'd post this. I call it DRIVE. Very rough mix. All crits welcome. Just getting into home recording. This tune is my first crack at recording audio with Sonar. The drum track is (obviously) a canned rhythm out of the RD 700. I played all the rest realtime and recorded audio only, no midi. This is preproduction for an eventual album featuring live players.

My rig for this recording:
Roland RD 700 direct stereo into a Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro direct out thru a MOTU 2408 and into Sonar 2.2 running on a P4 2.4, 1 gHz Ram under Win XP pro. Ref monitors (yikes) a pair of Yamaha 12" stage monitors (wedge). I'm upgrading my monitoring this week.

Thanks for taking the time.
Scott.

I'll say one thing right off.......man you eat that piano up!

I like the bass lines but there probably a bit too powerful, probably boosted because of your monitors not being able to give you a good bass response.

But I like the tune....kinda reminded me of something from Rocky for a minute there....

Very nice playing and with a good set of referense monitors....I think you'll be real pleased.

What kind of monitors you lookin at?

Thanks 79_Les_Paul. It does have a kind-of Rocky section. I don't know what category it would fall under. I just like to write/arrange music that I like.

I have a pair of Tannoy Proto-J’s. I just bought a power amp for them and hope to get to mixing either tonight or tomorrow. I have more stuff on the way. I plan to set up a website and use this forum for assistance as I produce the CD.

Real nice piano playing, very Bruce Hornsby-esque. I didn't like the horn licks before the B section and over the A section.

Thanks AlChuck , Do you mean the string parts? The stacatto accents things? There is no horn track but I can see how that string part sounds kinda like a brass part.
