Hi
I'm building a rehearsal studio but have limited hight in the double garage I am converting. I have already installed a first ceiling comprising of two layers of 12.5mm plaster board all made air tight with mastic and 4inch rockwool on top. beneth this i have room for another ceiling but can only afford 1inch air gap. The second ceiling will be made from 4inch beams supporting another two layers of 12.5mm plaster board and have 4inch rockwool between the beams. The question is should I reduce the thickness of the rockwool (say to 2inches ) between the beams in order to have more of an air gap ( 3 inches) between more of the ceiling ? ( the beams in any case will have to only be one inch from the top ceiling) or would it be better to fill the space between the beams with 4inch rockwool and retain a one inch gap throughout ?
Thanks for reading , would really appreciate any comments.
