Hey guys, I posted recently about recording successfully into my computer from a four track, and I basically came to the conclusion that upgrading my processor and memory is a good idea since these components are so low (233mHZ processor and 48 megs of RAM).

My question is this: I recently got into a discussion with someone who does the same type of recording as me, and he stated that upgrading my processor to a faster one and adding more memory will not make much difference to the overall quality of my recording, so I am wondering how does upgrading your provcessor and adding more memory improve the quality of your recording on a PC?

It won't improve sound quality, only a soundcard can do that..

A faster CPU and more memory will give you far more capability that you have with your current system. The abilty to haddle more tracks and add plug-in effects brings the entire experience to the next level.
