Had it working great! ..... Sonar 3 set up with instrument definitions so that I could specify in the Sonar MIDI track what channel and patch and, bottabing, the Roland channel's got the exact instrument cued and ready to go. Playback couldn't be easier with as many different tracks and instruments as I could want (up to 16, at least).

A couple days ago I got an Alesis SR-16 drum machine, a good addition to the studio, I thought. While trying to get it set up it went nuts for a second or two, like feedback on an audio system, lots of noise and then it stopped. The SR-16 was wigged out and needed a hard reset. Now it's okay but I can't get the Roland to respond to the DAW (Sonar or Cubase).

I've tried Local off globally and on individual channels. I've tried turning the Program select off (I actually started getting some program changes instead of patch changes, something it didn't do before, and I think should be a clue to the problem, but it escapes me...). I even tried a hard reset on it. Nothing.

Here's another clue: I can get MIDI notes, etc, from the Roland to the progam on several different tracks, one at a time, using different channels but none of it plays back - even with the Local on.

It's got to be the diodes, or at least the pentodes, I'm thinking. And to think it was working so sweetly...sniff! MIDI is so great to have working for ya, quantize, trying the part out with different voicings, etc. I hate to do without it. Any thoughts?

Thanks a bazillion!! Pablo
