How about the sounds?

Are the sounds the same as the other XP synths?

All the sounds are pretty basic. It has a general MIDI preset(128 sounds), and an additional 128 user sounds. The user sounds are the regular sounds that have been edited. You would come out better getting a midi controller keyboard and starting out with a module for the same amount of money.

I agree with LSA100x . You will be better off with a midi controller keyboard and a sound module.

One major reason is that the xp-10 only has 28 note polyphony. You start to lose notes after only about 4 or 5 sequenced instruments.

You can jv1010 for $400, with more sounds, better samples 64 note polyphony, and hook it up to an inexpensive midi keyboard from radio shack or somewhere
