Hello, totally new to the forum. I'm hoping I can get some advice. I have a Roland VS880 that I used to record on back in the late 90s/early 200s. I was able back then to connect to my old PC and get the songs (mixed on the fly as it recorded into the computer) "recorded" as songs. I then burned those to CDs.

I haven't played with this multitrack since the early 2000s, but I'd like to find a way to now get each track converted into my PC and put each track into software like Audacity. I'll then create a new song in Audacity using those individual tracks. I don't need any synchronization or midi features, I just want to get my old tracks (not full songs), one by one, out of the VS880 and into the computer so I can re-record all my music.

I hope this makes sense. I searched all over the place and can't find anything that addresses this specifically. Thanks!

maybe post your question here:

i had a 880 ex years back.

to do similarly to what you want to do, i used a program that was offered at the vs planet,
that took the data from your backup discs directly to a pc, and turned those proprietary roland files into proper WAV files.
Reaper was used as the middle man.

again, vs planet.

Hi,

I feel your pain. I've been there. If you have backed up your Roland VS880 songs to CD, I can help. I can unlock all your VS880 songs. I need the actually CD. I can convert all the tracks on the CD to 24 bit wave files. Contact me at rolandvs.2.wave@gmail.com for details. If the tracks have been recorded well, your will have excellent wave files. The backup CDs do not record the tempo info. If you have recorded your songs to a click, I maybe able to find the tempo for you by reloading the CD.

Kindest regards,
Eric
