Hello there

I hope iam doing this right i guess ive found a forum so heres my question

Iam new to homerecording always dreamed of doing it but more watched from the sidelines for years spent alil time watching engineers in studio but all went a bit over my head hey i dont mind admitting i dont know much about this thats why iam here :-)

i collect guitars mainly vintage, some customs and vintage effects good old analogue tecnology:-)

i recently looked into the roland vs series and decided i wanted to start somewhere so first of all decided id wait for the roland vs 2480 and wait for it to go on sale later on in the year or just buy one of someone who bought one and decided to sell it off this i feel is the best option in light of its close on 9k price tag i live in australia so not to mention our wonderfull aussie dollar :-) this is why id rather buy a demo or a used machine.

i want to build a home studio can someone give me some tips on what other equipment i might need to do this i realise i need mics cable monitors sszi burner etc but what else might i need considering the piece of equipment i had in mind to buy

im still stuck on recording drums and guitars bands all using real instruments like a four or five piece band with or without keyboards but i would not be recording many electronic instruments etc or anything other then traditional type sounds this all may be sounding a lil basic here but this is where iam at could anyone please assist me thanking you wayne :-) melbourne australia

Decisions

No matter when you decide to buy, there will always be something a little better that is "just coming out" and something else that is "just a little better, for just a little more money".

Just an observation that may help your decisions. :)

Hi there Rick, and thanks for your comments :-)

Yes i have to agree there you must start somewhere in the ballpark and buy something to start your recording sessions of with.

I guess ive examined many of the formats in the forums and have to say dragons posts are by far the most helpfull so far thanks DRAGON:-))))))

He is pretty much to the point and i feel puts in a huge effort for this sight and for all who read it and submit and recieve advice through these pages.

The vs 2480 looks a neat piece of work indeed i guess because of my lack of experience with home recording id like to ask once i purchase this machine can someone advice me on a list of other things i will also need to get started with my recording.

i already own a number of mics i own 2 AKG,S A D12 AND D12E I THING THE OTHER IS A AKG D112 I HAVE TWO SHURE BETA 58,S AN AKG D330 BT I am sure these will be enough to get started with I have also got an accient teac c3x 3 head rack mount tape deck real solid old boat anchor it is :-)

I do know i need to also purchase the roland cd burner also as i dont want to fool with my standard pc computer home recording seems nice but i feel it will be a hassle for me at this stage using the pc so this is why i opted for the roland vs2480 system

i was wondering if someone would be nice enough to explain to me what else i might need using the set up ive decided to go with there also may be some hints on what else i may need so i can get started with out major hassles considering iam new to home recording

anyway i look forwrd to reading all your replies and would like to thank all who took the time to assist me
:-))))))))))

kindest regards wayne
