I'm helping a friend record a band at his home studio, and he has a Roland VS-890 that we use to record the drums and now we want to be able to tranfer it to the computer so that we can have all 4 drum mics on it's own track in Samplitude for more flexablility while mixing. Can we transfer all 4 channels at once (via SCSI or other connection??) or are we going to have to record each track one at a time using his Soundblaster card? I don't know anything about transferring from one medium to the next as I don't ever deal with (or read about) this kinda stuff... So with that I turn to the all knowing and kind people of this message board. :)

We're gonna be finishing up the drums tomorrow (hopefully :D), so any help on the matter will be GREATLY appreciated!! :)

Thanks,

using the Soundblaster, the best you can do is 2 tracks at a time...pan one left and one right and set your software to record a stereo track, but 2 separate tracks......

is there some way to hook up the VS to an external burner and burn them as separate wav files?....

if you are going to be transferring tracks from a VS unit to PC alot, look into this for $239

Thanks Gidge!!

My friend does want to get a new soundcard, which will probaby be one of the Delta cards, so we can just bypass the VS-890 and go straight into the PC.... But for right now it looks like we'll just go two at a time through the soundcard, which will cut our time in half from doing only one at a time! ;)

Thanks again!
