Roland V Drums as MIDI controller

Hey folks

I have a query regarding electronic drums and using them as a controller!

I use Logic on an iMac and a tc electronic desktop konnect 6 firewire interface. My interface does not have a MIDI in/out so obviously I either upgrade my interface or get this: UM-1EX :: Products :: Roland

Now just to clarify, is this as simple as plugging the MIDI end into the V drums and then the USB into the mac, create a software track and then choose a drum sound I want to use?

One further question; I assume that MIDI sounds will be automatically applied to the corresponding drums? By that I mean, when I hit the snare, it will sound the snare sample?

Make sense??

Thanks in advance

Tim

Depends on what drum synth (VSTi) you use. But yeah, most will map out the midi data for you. Try ezdrummer, addictive drums, etc. They will work with Roland v-drums.

have fun.

Let's say that I'm going to be using something from logic's ultra beat...would that map out for me and work? Thanks again for the help!!
