Ok, the "newbie" is "busy" today. :o)

ANyone using the Roland UA-30? I've got one for my notebook and it seems to be working ok during the "honeymoon" period. I would like to share uses and other stuff if interested?

I use the UA-30 on my Powerbook G3 with a Fostex VM-04 digital mixer and Cubase VST.
Works great AFTER getting the ASIO driver (an extra $50) from a third party.
Overall I am very pleased with the performance of this unit, especially considering that it is MUCH cheaper than the VXPocket (Cardbus). The 20 bit A/D seems pretty clean, and the unit has a fair amount of headroom with very little noise. One thing I that is a minor gripe is the lack of accurate metering on the unit itself, which hinders setting accurate levels. Good thing the Fostex and Cubase allow for the incoming signal to be monitored much more precisely. ;)

Yeah, the multi-colored LED kinda sucks for input level reference. I use mine on a Panasonic Toughbook running WIN98. No problems sytemwise and I think it does a good job of getting audio in and out of my notebook for a reasonable price.

Hell, it beats the heck out the internal soundcard fer sure!
