roland sc8850 vs roland jv 2080

Greetings all! this is my virginal entry with this group. I am considering getting either a Roland sc 8850 or a jv 2080 to use while I do a midi supported single of pop/rock/country. I currently have an sc 8820 which is ok but has started letting me (loses it's usb connection)down on the job. I use the synth mostly for gm playback. I want to find out the advantages/disadvantages of either of these units, or others that could be considered. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? thanks. Rob

If it's just a case of replacing a GM module that's breaking down, go with the sc8850. The jv2080 is a different type of midi instrument that can have up to eight Roland expansion boards mounted inside at one time each with their own sounds and polyphony expansion (the # of notes you can play at one time)

I'm not dead sure the jv2080 has a GM mode -- it probably does, but since you are already familiar with the sc series there would be a whole lot less of what's commonly referred to as a 'learning curve' with the sc8850.
