Hello,
I'm nearing the end of recording my debut CD. I want to go back mix everything again with some studio monitors. Only problem is the ones I'd like to get are out of my range but I've been looking at a set of Rolands that are fairly cheap and I need an opinion on whether or not I should get them.
Here's a link to them.

Basically I've been mixing on the pair of Boston Computer monitors that came with my gateway and they have worked rather well after testing the sound on different systems I didn't really have to make any major changes to the sound. But do you think that getting the Rolands will worth it in terms of getting a better sound reference?

Thanks,
Dwaun

maybe a little
to make a real noticable difference, be willing to invest $500-$800 and up for a real pair of monitors
as stated in the description, these guys in the studio more than likely used these as a simple reference among many different sources
the real source may be a pair of HR824's and a HRS 150 Sub

I have been using these monitors for many years and have finally ordered some more professional monitors just a few days ago. The MA-8's have worked phenomenally for their size and price, however. If you're just mixing on little consumer computer speakers, I think these are definitely worth the money.

I've used Roland MA-8's in the past and found them to be quite useable. Bass response is obviously lacking in a speaker of that size/quality/price. I've since upgraded to Mackie HR824 and of course there's no comparison, but for about $100 I don't think you can do much better than the MA-8's. They're noticeably better than the average consumer-grade computer speakers IMO.

if your budget allows, go for it. if you really think about it, those just look like another pair of computer speakers.......................
