Roland M-SE1 question/request

So let's start with the fact that I'm a drummer by trade, but play a fair keyboard. I love the sound of strings but on a budget. So I bought a Roland M-SE1 on ebay. (hasn't come in yet)I've gone through the search here on the SE1 and many seem to like it but find it a bit hard to use. What if anything is so hard about it? I hear there are some other sounds in the performance mode. What is that? Does anyone have a mp3 post featuring the strings from this unit? I plan to midi this thing to my Korg X3. Any help would be great.

Read the manual, I don't need no stinkin' manual
 
I own it, love it and use it on almost everything. Hard to use?? Not in my opinion, I think it's pretty straight forward.

The SE-1 has 2 modes: Patch and Performance. Patch is used for a live situation where you'd only be playing one sound at a time.

Performance mode puts the unit into multi-timbral mode. This is used for sequencing. Here you can have 8 different sounds on 8 separate MIDI channels.

A note on the SE-1 though. There is a cable that sits behind the display that can cause noise in the audio outputs. If yours is noisy crack the case and just pull the cable (it's a ribbon cable) away from the display a bit.

If you want to hear the SE-1 in action listen to pretty much any song on my site. If you hear strings, odds are they are coming from the SE-1.
