Can anyone explain the basic differences between the JV modules and the Sound Canvas modules?
thanks

Soundcanvas modules have GM and GS Patch banks...therefore can be easily used with
those types of midi files, without the need for remapping the patches.

I have heard people say that soundcanvas patches don't sound as good as JV patches..I have never been in a position to compare them...that may be true.

If you're talking about the JV-1010,the difference is that it has the same soundset as the JV-1080 and 2080,and it has one slot for an expansion card of your choice from the JV-SR series.Plus it has 64 voices of polyphony wheras the older sound canvases only had 24 or 28.Cheers!

I don't know beanz about the JV series, but the the term "soundcanvas" covers a large number of different soundcards and modules...the roland module I use, an M-GS64 module , with 64 voice polyphony, is also referred to as a soundcanvas product..it is actually a rackmount version of the roland SC-88 module...it was manufactured about five years ago.

I was talking about older units than that that. The 88 was the biggest fanciest canvas they ever made, wasn't it?
