Hey everybody, newbee on the block here. If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it. I have this JV 880 and am going crazy with the manual in simply understanding how to get things going - I go in the edit mode and I can hear the sounds played from the keyboard - I go into perform mode and it doesn't play - from the keyboard that is. Anyone care to offer me a little JV 880 "class 101" to just get started with this? Seems the manual isn't totally friendly.

Appreciatively,

Roland....

I bought one about 5 or 6 years ago and still have it. I wish I could offer you some help with it, but to be honest with you, I found it much too time consuming just to learn ONE of the functions. I am quite literate and retain information well, so that told me early on that the unit was going to be a real bear to wrestle with. The end result is that I have (what is supposedly) a 'great' piece of equipment sitting in its box.... still. I tried user forums, etc., and even contacted Roland for some help, but it really didn't help me cut time spent on learning how to do the simplest of things with it.

I imagine if I really got down to it and 'went to school' with the manual, I would eventually master it. I'm more into user friendly equipment. That having been said, I own two Roland VS (virtual studios), and even after all the years I've had with them, there's still quite a bit I don't know. If everything was as simple to use as Yamaha stuff.... it'd be a better world on my end of things. Roland is not known for its simplicity. My Roland VS-1880 has a total of 550 manual pages between three books.

Best of luck to you with the unit! By the way, know of anyone looking to score an 880? Have a good one.....

Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your reply - I appreciate it. I'm always hearing the same thing about Roland and their manuals - one would think they would wake up:)

I'll the unit in mind - let me know what you're asking, so if I come across anyone, I'll know what to say.

Thank a lot - keep in touch.
Dave
