Hey guys , i know there are some awesome people on here and id appreciate it alot if i could get a simple answer for my recording issue. I just bought a HD1 Roland Elec Drum kit. The thing is sweet but i'm having problems recording. Well its got a head phone out and an "Output", both 1/8 inch jacks. I run the output jack and split it into 2 1/4 inch plugs. I run 2 cables into input one and 2 of my mobile pre, (simple USB M-Audio Interface). It actually sounds great, crystal clear. The only problem is i get this low hum in the background when i'm playing or its just sitting there. Its got to be some issue with the output being too hot for my mobile pre, or something like that. What can i do?, should i run it through a direct box and then into my mobile pre? Thanks for any help.

One possibility could be an AC ground loop. Try plugging (the AC electric plugs) both the HD-1 and Mobile Pre into the same wall outlet or power strip. And maybe other equipment too like the computer or recorder. This will reduce the hum, (if a ground loop is the problem, that is.) Just be careful you don't overload the AC circuit.

Good luck with it. Let us know then.
