I have been looking to add a hard synth to my collection for simplifying my live set-up. But I don't have a big budget. I found somebody who is selling a good condition (original owner) Roland EG-101 for $150. It seems like a good price to me. Any opinions?

Plenty of opinions here.

Never owned one myself but I remember spending hours in the local GC irritating the staff with my noise and interminable questions about one...

Thanks, but I had already checked those. Just looking for some more feedback from my fellow HR'ers.

just like all the grooveboxes, each patches dont have dedcated effects, so it's not going to sound "radio ready" , but each patterens have it's own setup that sound okay, haha oh well it's up to you
pre MC909, theres no stereo delay which is essential to eletronic music, you can use auto pan but it sound different.

150 it's a really nice price!! but it's not something that i would keep,
and keep in mine the synth reviews on two major review sites are ... well
you should only trust urself the most
as it's a trend that in order to keep up the reselling value anything can happen
and many gear freaks eager to post their opinions on fourms dont make music

I also have a computer which I can use for effects as well as sequencing. I guess I want to use it mostly for its drum machine (albeit simplistic) and bass synth sounds.

Any more input? I am planning on picking this up tomorrow unless someone gives me some advice otherwise.

OK, I bought it. I'll post a review once I get a chance to mess around with it.
