Roland Edirol UA-25 Setup probs..Playback But no recording Signal??

Hi

I recently bought a Roland Edirol UA-25 DigitalAudio Interface.

I have Set it up on my PC (running Windows XP Pro SP3 32 Bit) to use with Steinbergs Cubase SX
and Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2. It installs fine and is set as Default Device for all instances in
Control PanelSounds and Audio Devices. It Plays back Audio fine
(both Windows media and Audio Files from within Cubase SX (even 96Khz audio) and is set from within Cubase SX (Project SetupVST Multitrack) and Guitar Rig 2 (Audio+MIDI Settings)
but i cannot seem to get a signal from my Electric Guitar in either application?

When The "Direct Monitor" button is selected on the UA-25 i can hear my Guitar "Dry" but
no "Wet" signal from Cubase or Guitar Rig 2. SelectingDe-selecting the tiny monitorSpeaker
button on The Audio Channel in Cubase SX does nothing?

What am i missing? is my UA-25 Faulty?
