I have a set and I love 'em! Just make sure your sitting with them at ear level, about a metre apart, and your head being at the third point of a 1x1x1 metre triangle (DS-90s on the other two points). Sure beats the hell outa mixing with headphones (exits, ducking and weaving...)

the DS-90s are compatible with all the speaker modelling stuff that comes with the VS-series (big plus!)
Ooops! - just noticed; you said
the DS-90a - I was talking about the DS-90 - what's the difference? I know that Roland has introduced a low-end monitor, but thought that was
the RSM-90 (don't think they're digital, so I don't suppose the COSM modelling would work) - also there's
the DS-50a, which I see in the Musicians Fiend Catalogue, but have no idea as to the differences between it and the others (except for costing less $$)
