Would it be wise to buy a roland 3030 reverb unit as opposed to using the plug-ins in cool edit pro? I have about $300 to spend on either an effects rack or a mic pre (i have a mackie and a tascam digital mixer). I just want to know if the effects on the roland are better - I've heard that many people don't like the cool edit effects. If I shouldn't go with the roland, then what pre is best in that range?

Thanks in advance,
Eric

The Mackie pre's should be fine, if you need an FX box get a mid priced Lexicon ...sweeeet reverbs.

Thanks vox. I'll check out some lexicons. Does anyone else out there have advice on some good effects processors to check out? Has anyone ever compared a lexicon mxp-500 to a roland srv-3030?

Thanks,
Eric
