I have been looking at this type of set up. I would use the Roland ADA-7000 with the Dif-AT converter as the snake head. Then only two optical lines back to the AX16-AT / DS2416 in my computer for mixing and recording.
The advantages I see are shorter runs with the mic cables, signal converted closer to the sourse and no extra boxes around. Also use the investment I already have.
I looked at the AI-3 but it does'nt have phantom XLR connections.
Does any one think this would work? I have looked at the Roland site and there really is no technical info for this kind of set up.
Can the ADA-7000 with the DIF-AT be used as a stand alone set up? Does the DIF-AT need the 7100 mixer to do it's thing?
Any help , kick in the butt or Yahoo would be appreciated
