Roland 1824CD question

A friend of mine purchased an 1824 yesterday as well as a Behringer mixer. He will be recording only one or two sources at a time.

The 1824 has phantom power so he's wondering if the mixer is really a neccessity? Some pre-amps might be in order but I don't think he needs the board.

Thoughts on this?

No. It's not nessesarry.....

I ran my studio for a long time with just an 1880 and a mixer was never needed. Now I have a 2480 and it definatly rocks!
