Roger Troutman/Zapp effect!!!

Newbie to the site here, guys.....Just wondering if any of you know of either any hardware, or software that would produce the same vocal effects as a "talkbox" without actually getting a talkbox, since I can't play keyboards in real time!! I've heard of the Antares Vocal Producer, but listening to what they call "The "Cher" effect" on their website, sounds like a cheesy version of the real thing that Zapp/Roger used to use!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I'm using a dual 1 GHz G4 with over a gig of RAM, running Emagic Logic 6.3, E-MU Mo Phatt, Korg Trinity, Akai S-5000, Roland XV-3080, E-MU Vintage Pro, and the Yamaha Motif Rack!

just use logic to sequence you lead line and use the talkbox.

It'll take some practice, but it'll be worth it.


Sidenote: I went to junior high with Roger Troutman's twin son and daughter. I met him once, and thought he was really funny. This was about 3 years before his brother shot him.

I knew he was semi-famous, but had no idea why. Nor do I think I would have cared back then- he didn't sound like Kurt Cobain.


I sure am glad he didn't sound like Kurt Cobain :)
