Hi,

For my first mike I bought a AKG C2000B, In the store that was the one that sounded best over a Rode NT1a and Audio-technica AT4033. I got home and got very dissappointed to see that it sounded bad on lead vocals, sounded bad on spoken voice, sounded awful on electric guitars... though good on saxophone, accoustic guitars and tambourine?!? Man I waisted 400$ CDN. My friend got a rode NT1a and what a nice lead vocals, real crispy even though strong on "s". Now another friend got an AT4040, sounds so good on spoken voice, lead vocals, piano, accoustic guitar, not much sibilence... that would be a good choice for me but I would be ready to go a step higher with Rode NTK... How is it on spoken voice? I know it is awesome on lead vocals. And is it good on electric guitar?

Thanks in advance.

i dont see where it would be a problem if it works on lead vocals. i dont know about the electric guitar.

Yo Lapieuvre. I don't think I'll be of much help, because you are obviously looking for a sound. I've achieved excellent results with a C2000B on vocals and electric cabs in particular. I've got about $7000 US in mics at this point, and C2000B, along with Sennheiser e609, is my go-to cab mic. I confess I don't get it.-Richie

Could it be that I got a "bad" C2000b? In the store it sounded so good, the one they gave me in the box, I didn't test it...

There's another thread that puts the Rode NTK way ahead in first place for best mike under 1000$ but in the thread not one good word about it...

For 600$ what would be your choice for: lead vocals, electric guitar and spoken voice.

Shure sm7
EV re20
AT 4033
Groove Tubes Md1b
Studio Projects T3
and those ADK mics have been getting good reviews but I have not heard them (TT Ithink)
And for electric cabs snatch up a senn 609 (surprisingly wonderful and cheap)
P.S. I have an NTK and like it alot but only on certain voices and ranges, I wouldn't get it as my "only" vocal mic, but I would include it in a well rounded collection
