Well, since I haven't seen any reviews on the Rode NT2, a mic I just recently purchased, I figured I'd initiate the "thread."
Before purchasing the mic, I was looking into some possible alternatives, such as the MK319 [Oktava], AKG2000B, and AKGC3000. I was inclining towards the C2000B because I've heard it before, and I really like the response it gets. However, I was able to get an awesome deal at Guitar center on the Rode NT2; I got the mic, shockmount, and aluminum case all for $250.00.
My concern is with how the NT2 compares with the above mentioned mics. Unfortunately, I was never able to make an A/B comparison, and I really had no chance to since the deal came up spontaneously and I HAD to act on it. Can anyone share their opinions/experiences?
Also, for the moment, I'm running the mic through a live mixer, Mackie CFX12, as a submix/PREAMP, to go into a roland vs840ex. I'm getting really good sound, but how much do you think a behringer 'tube' pre or the presonus blumax preamp increase the quality? Is the difference in sound quality worth the extra $150?
Thanks!!
