Seems that the Rode NT1 had created a big topic here. I am going to buy a vocal mic, I at first want to buy the NT1. But after I mailed the dealear of my country, I have doubt. Not any bad points, but buy which one?
They told me the price for NT1 is US$230 and NT2 is US$470, well if I use this microphone for vocal recording, can anyone tell me which one should I choose? Not comparing on both mic. prices. Thankyou.

The RODE NT-1 is a very sensitive mic. Some find it to be rather bright sounding. The NT-2 is a little more well rounded. The sound is a bit smoother, and you will be a step closer to a great studio sound quality. There are of course other options - Shure has a model KSM-32 which is a good quality cardioid. Alesis has a line called "GT" and has a great mic for $550.00. The model is AM52 and it sound really good. The Shure will cost you roughly the same.

If the price of the RODES is where your comfortable, go with the NT-2, it should capture your vocals naturally.

The NT1 and Nt2 are very similar mics. Overall i think the NT2 is a better mic, it sounds nicer (and alot more expencive than what it's priced at) and gives better response to higher and lower frequencies. I was looking for a good mic only a few months ago, it was to take the pourpose of good vocal and drum overhead. I picked the NT2, i liked it so much that i then sold my C3000 (vocal mic) and bought another. It is an awsome Mic, if you realy want to go better i don't think there is much differance till you reach the Rode Clasic (which is much more expencive) i don't own one my self but they look and sound very good.
It seems i'm being very one sided towards the Rode MIC's, but the truth is I'm not a sales person just a very happy client. I havn't tried many other condensor mics, there could be many that are just as good or better. Befour my Rode mic's i had an AKG C3000 that was nice and very similar to the NT1 and a C1000S, it is an alright budget condensor but truthfully i have heard better dynamic mic's.

In the end you need to go with what you think sounds best, and i garentee that, that is the best mic for you. Also don't settle for a cheap mic because of the price, you are better of waiting a few months and going a step up. Then you will have the mic for a long time.

HAWLK,
