Well, I have searched the archives, and I really can't find a clear answer. Also, I've seen things about the AT 4047. These are cheaper than the 4050, but I've read good things about them. Does anyone have any experience with these mics?

That's because there is no clear answer. If you wer to ask,"which is better, an AT4033 or a Blue Mouse?", you'd probably get a clear answer. But, with mics you generally get what you pay for. Mics in a given price range are usually of similar quality. They do sound slightly different though, making it very subjective as to which one sounds better.
I can however vouch for the KSM32, I love mine.

As an "all-around" workhorse mic or an "acoustic/vocal" workhorse mic?

I'd take the 4050 as an "all-around" and the 4047 or KSM32 as an "acostic/vocal"; depending on what sound I want; with what pre(s) and/or compressor(s) I have available.

But if I had to pick one mic in that range, I'd take an Oktava MC-012 pre body with an RTT M1/M3 from The sound Room only.

I consider the NT-2 as an "all-around" workhorse.

In some of my acoustical recording situations
the KSM32 has always performed well. A great buy!
