Rock solos on metal.

Its cool but one question...why do you call this metal? The thrash metal drums don't really go with that classic rock solo.

Krhmh..

Well, ..190bpm is a bit metal-ish in my humble perspective, as you can hear I'm having serious trouble keeping that tempo in the beginning.. then there is the overall level of distortion present in the rhythm. If you'd leave out the lead, It'd sound a bit like scandinavian black/thrash, just lacking some gut-tearing screamo... ..guess you'd put it in da classic-rock? :D

But that lead does make it sound almost major.

Sounds cool. Nice guitar work.
The mix is pretty muddy.
I would work on your lower mids around the 200Hz area.
I would alos lo cut the mix around 50Hz, I can ehar a lo rumble.

Good stuff.

EQ:d to hell..

Got a bad habit of mixing with these small mp3-player earbuttons. And the original had way too much mids in these plugs, so I EQ:ed it to suit these 10mm speakers. My bad! :D

I'll try messing with those, thanks!

Get some monitors. They do wonders! ;)
Or a good set of headphones with good frequency response. And remember to listen on as many different speakers/headphones as possible to get the mix sonding good on all them.

aaalllrighty,,

did these changes through my monitoring-headset, almost killed all under 50 and seriously dented the 200. Cleared a lot, but now, is there a tad too much highs??

..updated the original link..

no monitors, its late night here..

The lo end has been fixed, but the mix is now thin. I would add some lo end back in but make sure its not rumbling, and add some 200Hz back in. :)
I think if you could get exactly inbetween your original mix and the new mix you will be doing good.
Look forward to hearing the new one if you decide to do one that is. :'

Jeeezzz... :D

Taking more time to mix than play the goddamn thing, this shall be the last. :D

Thanks, I think this is it at it's best, the original sounds aren't great, and playing could have been honed more, but it's been educational!! :)

..Original link updated to final...

Sorry to say, but still a bit thin in the lo mids. Im a prick I know! :)
decimels of gain can make BIG differences.

I will give the mix a master if you fancy it.
Let us know and I will give it a shot.
