I posted this several months back. It was a pretty rough mix at the time with no clean up work.

I decided to go back into it and give it a real go.
Id like to get your opinions on the mix before I go any further.

thanks

PS

Listening as I type....

Guitars are rockin' right out of the gate.

Double vocals on the left during the verse are very cool - really lifts up the song.

Ok - there's some on the right also, equally effective.

Vocals are big and bold, very strong and right on the money.

The little guitar licks in the song add some nice flavor.

Solo is cool - I like the placement, verb seems just right ......

Very cool...mix sounds good....

Thanks Ido1957.

I Duped the rythem guitar track and panned at about 30% with some flange on the left for this mix. Originlay it has a single track up the middle.
It seems to have made it fuller for sure. doesn't sound as stereo as I would like, but still better to me.

Distorted guitar is one of my bigger stumbling blocks. I have to start documenting amp setting and what not. I wish I had when I recorded this song. I really like the saturation and tone on this for a change;)

Tarzan Haters version

Ok This is more than likely what the end version begining will be like.
I just had to find a decent verb for the first few kick hit's.
It was just too dry and clicky to hang out there by it's self.

I'm liking this....pretty fun listen. You gave it a cool vibe... :D

Drums sound pretty decent, and I like the guitars and vox. They sit nice. Bass seems to be holding down the lowend well. Cool man...

Thanks Dogman.

I think I am about done with this one. Except for getting "real drums" on it.
Tried recording them once but the drummer needed a little seat time with it.
Now that weve practiced it a few times I need to get him back over.

Still looking for nit's. I mixed this alot brighter than alot of my stuff (I am trying to do that) but I guess not too bright? Guitars are the main thing effected.

Hey, ease up on Tarzan's compression!

Nice all around. Gtrs sound great, bass gtr too.

When the backing vocal pops in occasionally, don't know why, but I think it would sound better put right up the middle and blending more with the main vocal.

But I spent a grand on a boutique tarzan compressor!!

No the clip is as I found it. It's an original clip off the web. I don't think the years where kind. Who knows what has happened to it  :o

I've been thinking about that on the backups. Theres some there there are two tracks panned that one jumps out too. I might have to take the single bu's more tward the middle. I already did some fixing of that along with taking them down in the mix, but what you mentioned has been on my mind as well.
My other thought was to take those one sided backups and put a echo to the oposite side. I'd just have to try that and see how it works. I think the chances are slim I could get them where I would like it that way, but you never know until you try :D

Thanks for the input, much appritiated!

Did you catch the Tarzan haters version I put later in the thread?
Might be more your stlye.............? You may want to see if there's a T.H.A. meeting there localy ;) :D

Thanks again

Really fun rocker. I really like your style of unabashed rock, kinda like the Cult. I thought everything sounded like it should. The bass was just right there holding the bottom end and the drums sound nice. They sound pretty real. Also your guitars sounded good with those tasty licks. The vocals sounded really strong too, like the way the Cult's are. Good job.

Thanks Steve;)

This is actually a stangely fun song for me, but I rather enjoyed it :D
Actually just wrote the song around the drums believe it or not.

Most people say it's Danzig sings Kiss. When I was singing it I knew I was Danziging pretty hard so I just let it go at the end ;)

It's nice to do a fun song for a change.

Thanks for your thoughts.
