hey folk, does anybody here know what mics Robert Smith has used in the studio for recording vocals?

If you're talking about early 80's Cure stuff, Robert used a Neumann FET 47

cheers for the response, appreciated. was mainly looking around '85 i think, the head on the door album. cheers again

Ahh ;) Head On The Door! brilliant album! You're after that breathy sound Robert Smith uses in Close To Me and alike? I'm not sure exactly what he used on that album. What I do know is the album was recorded at Angel Studios in Islington
and here is a list of microphones they use

Probably continuing to use one of those Neumanns, thought I'm sure they would have changed their mics around since 1985 :)

yeah, fantastic album. thanks for the info, i've contacted the studio, maybe someone there can let me know :)

cheers again
