RNP into digi 001 question

I'm running an RNP into a digi 001 by having the signal come out of the audio outputs from the RNP into the analog inputs of the digi 001. The RNP has 3 level indicator lights - "sig", "+18", and "clip". My problem is that I can't even get to the "+18" light on the RNP without clipping on the 001. I've got the digi hardware setup to line level (lowest possible).

I feel like there's headroom being wasted on the RNP. Is that the case? Does it matter? Anyone know if there's something I can do about it?

I've already done that - I think. If you're talking about under setups>hardware>other options, then that's the same thing I meant by having it set to line level. (It says "+4 dbu line level").

If there's another way to do this, please let me know.
