RNC question

I recently ordered a FMR RNC not having much experience with compressors. I want to use it with my Marshall JCM 900 amp to archive a tighter sound but I haven´t got a rack preamp or anything like that yet - is it impossible for me to use the RNC with my JCM 900? do I need something else and do I run it through the effects loop or what?

Sorry - these are pretty idiotic questions but I´m new to this...

I am playing heavy-metal/metalcore using the JCM 900 gain as it has very nice distortion far better than most distortion pedals. I read that using a compressor gives you a more thicker sound and more sustain..

I tryed running a comp thru the effects loop before and did not get what i whanted.

hmmm.. I know this is normally used in guitar-racks and in studio but I´m just thinking whether I can use it somehow before I buy myself a preamp...

Try what detuned said. If you're not sure about settings, put all knobs to 12 o'clock and start playing and tweaking till you smile. Unless of course, your girlfriend's around.
