How would you apply the RNC to drums? I would only be able to compress one part of the kit rigth?

I don't own a RNC (certainly looking at them though) but I believe you would need more than one if you wanted to compress say, a snare and a kick separately.

Yes... you'd need 2 - one for kick, one for snare....
One RNC is a coupled two-channel processor (meaning although it takes 2 channels of input, the controls operate on both channels simultaneously - for stereo mixes). For all other purposes it is a single channel unit (and it doesn't matter which channel you plug into!)
