RME's tips- minor? problem

I made a fresh installation of 98se using the optimization tips from RME's site:

When Windows starts it always asks me to define a password as if it's the first time it's been installed. Whether I set the password or decline, the next time I boot, it still asks again as if I never entered it last time. Did something go wrong during installation, or is this a price of the optimization? Can I fix it without reinstalling? If I can't fix it, is it a sign that something more serious is wrong?

Probably because you said 'cancel' during the initial install instead of 'ok'. You could try deleting all *.pwl files.

No, more of an inconvenience. A performance hit is unlikely.
