http://www.rme-audio.com/english/support.htm

No secret password required.

don't mean to be rude but I have checked out the link, checked out the US website, registered my new card, sent a coupe of emails and......

nothing !

Not even an acknowledgment !

I've been through the various FAQs, looked for the news group (the link is dead and the instructions are in german) and am about to start jumping up and down on the card (which will probably invalidate the warranty - which is not much good if the buggers wont communicate with anyone !).

Needless to say In not that impressed !

Where did you send the emails too? Looks like US support is handled by a tech guy at Synthax. From what I can see, Synthax is in Ohio, and phones numbers are at there Website if you'd need to contact them.

I take it you are having issues? Try calling on the phone - it may not be free, but if you have an serious tech issue that needs resolving, I'd do it. I'd be surprised if you were having a major issue with an RME product (not saying that you are not), but if you are, call.

How about post the problem. It's probably something one of us can clue you in on. Almost has to be user error.

I have emailed George at synthax a couple of times. In the past he has been really brilliant, prompt and all the things you'd expect.

Previously he handled testing the RME Digi 96/8 PAD card I have to check for G5 compatibility. They did this by the book and it was painless.

I now use MOTU 828s as my main I/O however I now want to A/B the converters on the 828 with those on the RME card. I would also like to take advantage of the RME cards multi channel I/O and rather than use the ADAT in, (circumventing the RMEs converters) I figured Id get analogue I/O extension card (AEB4-1) which is compatible with the ADAT versions of the Digi8/96 cards (like my PAD version).

So, I get the AEB card, instal all the connecting cables to the sound card and can't find a power cable on my G5. (I'm looking for the 4 wire power cables that power CD / HDD drives on PCs). The only one I can find that looks like it might work goes into the optical drive. So, my question is, can I just get a splitter cable form radioshack and use the power line to the optical drive to power the I/O card as well ?

I have ordered the Y splitter cables and i just waiting for a yay or a nay !

Not a big deal but Id rather not blow up my powermac if it can be avoided.

I may have a go at emailing the dude at Sweetwater who sold me the card. In the past he has been very helpful !

That said, I am a bit disappointed it has become such hard work getting any sort of response from RME ! It is not like Im asking for freebies and trying to pull a fast one. This is after-sales support they have said Im entitled to !

George wrote back to me this morning and was very helpful.

I am once again a happy camper and the solution was to use the "y" splitter cable. I have a couple coming form newegg.com

Glad you got a response. If George is the only guy doing support in the US for RME, I wouldn't want that job.

Well actually, it wouldn't be a bad job based on RME's rep.
