Hey guys,

This is a song that I wrote with my co-writer Mindy back in late September...

We felt, as did so many artists, an obligation to speak to the devastating loss through our music...

In this song, I tried in the lyrics, to speak from the perspective of the families who survived the loss of their spouses in the tragedy...

I, as life would have it, know exactly what this feels like, because I lost my first wife to cancer back in 1997, so I had a bit of connection with those who had lost so much...

So the arc of the lyrics takes the journey from waking up on a day like any other, with the hopes, promises and dreams that lay ahead; to the unimaginable pain of the loss; and then the realization of hope and promise still remains in life...that love and peace will rise up...

This is a recording from the benefit concert C.D. that was actually inspired by this song and raised over $10,000 for the NYC Backstoppers...

After the concert, I added a few layers of guitar and drum loop for some added "vibe", but other than that, the rest of the performance is entirely live, including vocals...

Anyway, here's the song, both in MP3 and STREAMING format:

Rise Up From the Ashes-MP3

Rise Up From the Ashes- LYRICS

Anyway, I know the sting of the tragedy is a little distant, but I wanted to share this song that meant so much for me to write...

Thank you...

Peace,

Scott Jones

Chris,

Thanks man...

I really put ALOT into building a site that would honor the remarkable life God gave me...

If you read my life's story, you know that I shouldn't even BE here...

So, needless to say, I am grateful beyond words, and want to share what I've been given, with passion...

You'd dig Grace...let me know if you're in town, we'll hook up...

Peace bro,

Scott

A fellow St. Louisian. Great job on the tune.

Scott,

I can't believe that most of that was live. Too bad this plays on real player at only 64kbps because it probably would have sounded much better at 128. I'm learning to listen past that though. I remember you from the e.q. mag forums and much like your other music I've checked out, this was real good. Your music comes from a good place. Songs about 9/11 take a lot to write, and you've done it tastefully. Nice Job bro!

peace.

Thanks...

Yeah 128 is a little slower than 64, so it's a compromise...

I appreciate your time in listening and commenting on my music...

Peace,

Scott
