It's all about being original. Usually I don't respect cats who use other folks' beats and then try to pass it off as their own shit.

Now if you doin it just to do it and show off your lyricism....cool.

In all honesty...I have the memory lane track...and by no means is this a diss to old school (can't do that), but I don't think the track gives the potential new song any flavor. I go along with mindset's idea of sampling pimp c's verses and making a song about what's going wrong so that we don't have any more things like this happen without folks being aware of it.

i agree completely Fiev. i un-officially scrapped the "memory lane" project. honestly sampling the track kinda got me in a depressed state of mind... and there's nothing good that can come outta that. i'll wait to see what Mindset has in mind for the project he mentioned.. :cool:

Yeah true true...I kinda fall into that category, the one who uses industry beats with my own lyrics. But I'm a rookie so it's all cool :o
 
Well Can I Hear The Version Of The Memory Lane Track That Has Been Done? I Can Still Get Some Push Outta That Idea/strategy - Cuz I Know Ppl That's Just The Opposite, They Want To Hear Old School Tracks Redone With Today's Hip Hop Appeal . . . I Could Probably Get Tehm To Pay For A .99 Cent "single" That Way . . . Lol

I may still do a track with that song sampled, but it's not as a R.I.P. song, it's more about thinking back to the good times and re-living those times all over again.
 
Whats really sad about this is that alot of cats didn't even know who Pimp C was or his contributions to hip hop. Check Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin". He really is gonna be missed, very sad lost.
