I've been noticing lately (at least in photos and videos) that quite a number of guitarists are wearing loads of jewelry and other hand accessories, huge rings, assorted bracelets and chains, gloves and who knows what else. I don't know about anyone else but it took me ages to get used to playing while wearing a wedding band, still can't play wearing a wristwatch. Things on my hands or wrists just get in the way. I'm more than a bit curious to hear what other guitarist think or choose to decorate their hands with.

I'm gonna say the same as I said on the Jimmy Page Long Slung Guitar thread - yes its unnecessary, yes it is pointless and no it wont improve your playing - but if it makes you look cool people WILL power through and do it...people like me :laughings:

I only tend to wear rings for gigs. If I'm practising guitar with rings or watches on it feels really uncomfortable, but when you're on stage and the adrenaline's going I don't notice at all, there's plenty of things about playing live that will cause you to mess up or be uncomfortable so you just learn to ignore it. I did used to wear a thumb ring that was a C shape and one night it got caught and ripped my low E string, but other than that I've never had any serious problems

I have a bracelet with beads of wood, but I have to take it off because I can't rest my palm or wrist on the guitar without my arm rolling all of the guitar. Other than than I wear nothing that really gets in the way (and I sometimes have a lot of weird shit on and around my hands at times). I have pretty thin wrists so my watch is a little on the loose side and it slides to wherever it's most comfortable for me. Especially with an audience watching I forget all about the world and focus on just the music.

At home I usually remove everything so there's no chance to get distracted.

The thing that bothers me most is sleeves: I always get them out of the way unless it's freezing, basically.
