Massive layoffs where I work have teamed up with the return of this BBS to a healthy condition to work my synth into a short frenzy of bipolar output.

It's been a long time since I even switched that thing on.

The last tune on my nowhereradio list.

D042d; 3563KB; 192Kbps mp3.

Happy Holidays!

i really like this one. nice steady rythm of dissonance that sounds almost fuguelike in places.

do you ever listen to oliver messian?

Its good to know that someone is contributing to a more logical form of music than all the stuff we`ve been chained to for so long. It`s alway better to have many melodies and key signatures going at once so the experienced listener can pick out just the melody he/she wants to enjoy and the other stuff just kinda don`t sound or something. You know, like when you pick the mushrooms off your pizza with your fingers anf eat them.

;)

I don't understand your music at all, and I'm not going to pretend that I do. Hell, I don't even understand 1/2 of your song titles. hehehee...thus far, I've enjoyed:

"d031d2_64P;"
"A252d;"
"u232d;" & now
"D042d."

The Bar Code on the box of Raisin Bran that I had this morning made more sense to me. :D Nope, I understand NONE of it. But what I do understand and appreciate is that you seem to have your own vision of what your music is, and what it means, and you seem to care little for changing it...and THAT (to me) is very cool. It seperates you from the crowd, and it is why I will continue to check out every Borg-Named tune you grace this board with.

Weird On,
Chris

Chris, you need the cd....

"Get down from there" by DRSTAWL, available at fine music stores everywhere.

This tune I found disturbing, I don't know why........

For some reason it had the same effect on me as when the ididot is going down the stairs to the cellar with a barbecue fork after hearing screams and bodies torn apart minutes earlier......

Thanks all for checking out my recent return to the synth.

erichenryus: Yes- I was after a level of dissonance that was even; like cream cheese spread out on a bagel. no- can't say that I've heard any Messiaen, but from what I've read- his fascination with birds is quite similar to one I see reflected in my cats. They spend a lot of time trying to make bird noises. :)

Toki987: the mushrooms stay! The funky fruits go. And I don't like being chained to anything. Most particularly the rear bumper of some drunk redneck's truck.

chrisharris: Actually these titles are much easier to read than The Bar Code on the box of Raisin Bran, unless you happen to have a bar code scanner implanted in your skull. The code:

AxxyB is a DATE CODE based on the composition date where

A is a month code (Jan... Dec = JFMAYULGSOND)
xx is a two digit day of the month
y is the last digit of the year
B is a letter differentiating this piece from others written that day.

But don't be shy about those without the Borg titles. I just happened to be able to associate them with a visual image.

Roland: >This tune I found disturbing, I don't know why........

It was due to a few notes that suddenly changed the mood. Like listening to a conversation out of context seemingly about some sort of food preparation technique when a few words float across the room that make you realize that he's talking about what he did to a busload of tourists headed to Vegas. :)

I enjoyed it....for some odd reason;)

maybe got a little eighth-note-y for me...otherwise...

Well..................

I listened......

nice recording....

I guess that's what it's all about....

I don't get your stuff either man....

Well the guy's name seems to be on the board a lot today, but this very much reminded me of Tom Waits - the later, weirder stuff obviously, not the jazzbo era. I like what you're doing here, but I'd really like to hear some vocals. It sounds kind of like a good backdrop for some semi-spoken word kind of thing a' la Waits or Beefheart. Just my personal taste: I have a pretty limited interest in instrumentals in general (outside of jazz) and this one has interesting atmosphere, but I think needs more to carry it.

If you ever get some vox on there, I wanna hear it!

and that describes what i heard exactly. i'm on my third listen, and gotta admit, it's growing on me. this isn't a twelve tone piece is it?

i think you should really check out messian. or Schönberg perhaps?

>If you ever get some vox on there, I wanna hear it!

If ever there was someone that could do a Waits lick over this tune, after checking out your tune in the clinic I'd have to say: "You da man!"

But I think it would be quite a challenge. It's kinda busy. But what the heck- turn it down and vamp over it. I'd love to hear what you heard in the back of your mind.

My few vocal attempts were definitely drug-induced. Lemme see-

"I found your Cat Brains all over the sidewalk";
"The air is full of acid, the ocean's full of shit";
"Hello...............? Hello...........?"
"Gonna be takin' your bath down at the lagoon."

Schönberg I've heard. I have to say I'm more taken with Ives, Debussy and Satie.

joro: thanks for the "nice recording...." comment. 24/44.1 and I had to crank my pre/converter to get a decent level into the S/PDIF input on the PC. EQ and compression applied sparingly.

mixmkr: >maybe got a little eighth-note-y for me...otherwise...

a legitimate complaint. I felt that as well but sort of gave up trying to fix it. I try to cover that up with live recorded tracks. I don't like the anti-quantize plugs that Cakewalk calls "Groove something or other". Besides, the step-record sound is part and parcel of my shtik. We are Borg! You will be assimilated.

Nice recording Doc

For some reason I get the feeling you have alot of fun playing this tune!

Very clean and balanced.

AND.................

I hope things pick up where you work!
Tough times suck
Good Luck

Quite good drstawl! I thought that was one of your better compositions. It was different, but still held the christmas element in sight. Maybe it was the bells. Anyway believe it or not parts of it really reminded me of "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer". I could actually sing the words in places. You seem to have a very precise touch on the keyboard, even though at first it sounds like you don't know where it's going, suddenly you're there with it and it sounds right. I don't fully understand your music either, but it's neat. My husband does a lot of great electronic music too, but he says it bothers him that he can't play the same song the same way the next time. I told him it doesn't matter so long as it's good each time. :) Cool!!

YEAH i THINK lANGLEY IS ONTO SOMETHING HERE DOCCY- this is very Christmassy. 'Cept I am hearing many bits of different Christmas songs melded together. You have flipped your fucking lid once and for all.

Lessee here- Deck the Halls, Rudolph starts it out on the staccato strings...silent night on the acoustic, Chopin riffs, I even think you slid a little jingle bells in there on the glass vibes. You really need to be stopped before someone really gets hurt.

I Liked it. I don't exactly know why.

Seriously, I like this sort of thing. Reminded me of Captain Beefheart, except a little more refined. If I had Doc at the Radar Station burned I'd be listening to it right now.

At first I thought it ened a little too soon, but after another listen I think it may be just right the way it is.

(say in a robotic computer monotone voice)
It was good.
I liked it.
Excellent sound quality.
It reminded me of my creator.
I play it all day long on an infinite loop.
Very soothing to my CPU.

(back to normal)
I've done stuff like that, but maybe with less composition. Vocals? no way, unless they are processed - like Gary Numann or Bowie. Or monotone, or vocoded with the tune.

It was hypnotic. It was better than Cats.
:)

it's all about the DOC!!

it's all you, man!!!! what else can i say??:D a journey for sure!!!!!!

thank's man!!!

peace

rick

It's got a great beat I can dance to it!!

I give it an eight!!

Of course it's the dance of the crazed marionette, but what are you gonna do?

Someone call a doctor, nevermind he's allready here!!
