Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude but who exactly is Rick Ruskin/you?

Hey Rick did you have a question about guitar/bass gear or are you just here to pimp yourself like a 20 dollar hooker? Do you also sell CDs and gold jewelry out of your trunk?

He's a world class fingerstyle guit player. Very tasty. The only thing bad I can say about him is that he doesn't like cedar tops.:D I've had two and loved them both.

Hey Rick - Gary at Boulevard is getting the word out - got my flyer in yesterday's mail...:)

Hey guys, Rick is a world class fingerpicking guitarist, and well worth seeing.

I may be relatively new here but I have answered my share of questions around the board. I am no spammer or "pimp." It might be a good idea to do a little research before making wise-ass statements like the above.

FYI -
1. The 1st 1/2" 8-track sessions done in the US were my dates.
2. I was an early test user and consultant for the 1st 1" 16 tracks.
3. My music has been used by JBL, TASCAM, Fostex, and Hewlett Packard, among others, some of which was recorded without the help of outside staff.
4. The prototype CAD E-200 was 1st used at my studio in Pasadena.
I'll stop there in the hope you get the message.

And when Brauner and Soundfield wanted to demo their new high dollar mics at the AES show, they hired Rick Ruskin to show off their new mics with his guitar playing.

Spammer reported
I don't care if you're Eddie Van Halen your spam doesn't belong in this forum.

If you don't like my posts then don't read them. So far, you're the only one with any objections.

I, for one, am more than pleased that Rick participates on this Board and I don't think his posting here is out of line. We should be so lucky to have other musicians of his caliber come to play with us. I just wish he was touring in the midwest too.:D

Telling guitarists, in a guitar forum, where one of the world's best guitar players is gonna be playin' ain't spam, IMO.

On the bad side, I gave up guitar playing after hearing Rick Ruskin play guitar.

On the good side, I gave up guitar playing after hearing Rick Ruskin play guitar.

The world is now a safer place.

Really, when I got this thread reported to me as spam I swear I thought by the title that it was a political thing. :p

It is definitely a Good Thing to have great musicians here, and Rick is clearly no drive-by spammer with 70 posts. OTOH ocnor does have a point...we have a perfectly good Live Events forum for this kind of thing. So just to keep things calm, might I suggest that in the future, musicians on tour post their scheduled appearances in Live Events, and then a quick little pointer in the appropriate forum (drums, guitars, keyboards, kazoos...) which should keep everyone happy!

In fact, that sounds like such a good suggestion I'll put it in the stickies! :D

Dragon,

Lemme point out that Rick, together with our friend Dick Rosmini, pushed Tascam to come out with the first low cost 8 track recorder, making the whole home recording thing possible. They were both involved in the design and testing of a lot of products from Tascam and Fostex that made those products such low cost, high quality breakthroughs.

Rick deserves a lot more than our respect as a fantastic guitarist; he's also one of the pioneers of home recording.

I just caught this thread and it's hilarious.

Hey Rick keep posting all you like. I've learned pretty quick that there are a few folks here that don't seem to want to have the best at their disposal to help them out. Most all of the rest do so stick around. Keep dropping by the guitar and bass forum and join in. Good to have you about

In the meantime keep moving that air.

Rick,
Be sure to post dates if you come out to the east coast. I'll be looking forward to it! Keep on pickin'!
