hey folks,

just picked up a '73 rickenbacker fretless bass. so can someone explain the 'ric-o-sound' to me? there are two output jacks, a 'normal' and a 'ric-o-sound'. any help appreciated!

thanks,

tony

Tony,

Ric-O-Sound, is a stereo output jack, it seperates the bridge and neck pickup, to left and right, really pretty useless.

GT is right........it is a stereo jack for pickup seperation, and to the average player,is not needed. However, for the adventurous kind of guy ( ) it can really be a plus. When you use this feature in recording, you can EQ each pickup seperately...imagine putting a piano growl on the bridge pickup and an organ pedal low end on the neck pickup, then mixing the two.I realize that there is alot of tonal real estate between my example, but you get the point.I had one back in the early '70s,and I would run each pickup into a seperate channel of of a Fender Showman. It really helped in alot of cases (of course,we were all trying to be Chris Squire back then....;) ).
Nice snag............keep it,and don't sell it like I did mine.
