Recently, I saw a computer program advertised in "RECORDING" magazine called "Masterwriter" that was created to help aspiring songwriters create songs in an easier manner. The one thing I realized is that much of this program (which costs $289.00) is composed of things that are free and accessible on the internet with a quick search on Google.

Anyway, one of the things this program has is a "Rhyming" function. You type in the word you'd like to rhyme, enter it, and PRESTO!.... you have a whole bunch of words that rhyme what you typed.

Well, after a split-second Google search, I found a "Rhymer" for free. So, I thought I'd share it with you guys and gals.

Here y'all go...

Hope this helps!

So am I old fashioned, because I just use a Thesaurus? It may not be free, but the $3.95 has lasted me 25 years, so I'm good with that.-Richie

Try that link to download an ultra handy rhymer freebie (and you don't hvae to be on line to use it.) And while you're at it, for those few of you who haven't bumped into AnalogX.com already, there's a bunch of truly useful music and system utilities. And to ice the cake, no gimmicks, no adware/spyware, etc.

Be warmed and filled,

PS: So far all the utitlities have worked fine on all the windows platforms I've had; 9x, ME, 2000, XP

Sure , you can find free sources that can do allmost the same as Masterwriter. Allthough I would as of today not trade my copy of Masterwriter for the money I paid for it.
In my opinion Masterwriter is a work of a genius.

Buck (and other) - thanks for the links.

Emusic - can you help us understand what aspects of Masterwriter you find of value (I must assume it goes beyond simply rhyming - which as evidenced in this thread can be assessed in any umber of online sources and/or a Thesaurus)???

http://masterwriter.com/ and look at the "Masterwriter Tour" in lower left corner of main page. Tells you more than I could describe if I spent one hour writing a reply. I find every one of the features described in that flash demo very handy in my daily lyrics work. Masterwriter let´s me collect info in a much more fluid and structured way than other sources did for me earlier. I want my focus on the creative flow and for me, Masterwriter is much more transparent than my old methods. And it´s all there inside one rather tiny window of my monitor.

I really can´t recommend it enough guys. If you don´t like the thought of spending money on it, I can see that point and I´m totally cool with that. Thing is I started using the free demo, wich I still think is available. Since then I never looked back and ordered a copy. Nowadays I just can´t write fluid enough without masterwriter no more.

And no; I have no stocks in Masterwriter :D

It´s not a crime to rhyme
allthough you won´t earn a dime
if you rhyme like me during nighttime
accompanied by this bottle of wine

I´m a songwriter so confine
that I can´t write without a rhyme
call me some time
lets plug our gitars - it´s soon showtime
but don´t steal my rhymes - thats a copycat crime

On a stage I´ll duel you anytime
and while we sing "Brother, can you spare a dime?"
And follow up with "I heard it through the grapevine",
Our crescrendo - our real climb
Will be "Duelling banjos" - bigtime

:D
