so i have this ol' 4-track teac simulsinc recorder everything works great on it except a couple years back i flipped the switch to rewind/fastforward mode and when i did i saw a spark inside through the cracks and the rewind would work every now and then just start spinning when you press the button but it doesnt anymore and i am really tired of using my hands to manually rewind tha bitch! so if anyone has the ''know how'' on these 4-track teac simul-sinc's body parts please break me off some of that knowledge.

David!

All I know about those machines, specifically, is that they use relays to switch voltages and make stuff happen, unlike later machines that use transistors and more compact electronics, or integrated circuit chips, and whatnot.

Maybe a relay fried, or maybe a fuse blew, or maybe something preceding the relay in the circuit failed, which caused the relay to fry as well?

Could also be a solenoid of some sort. I doubt the motor fried, or you'd be having severe torque issues on playback.

Something to think about. Nothing specific as I've never repair this issue.
