My review of Audio Technica MB2000L ....
as a TALKBACK mic.
Picked this up at MF for $20 new (tossed it in witha nother order).
Initial comments as I puued it out of the box. Looks very nice. Has that kind of rubbery finish to it, feels nice in the hand. Decent clip. Nice lockable on and off switch.
In use: Wow, I must say, every time I told the band to shut up through their headphones with this mic, THEY DID IT!
This mic commands respect when you crank the gain all the way up, put your mouth directly on it, and say HOLD ON A GAWDAMNED MINUTE OK???? It really booms and scares the shit out of everyone.
I noticed that there was just the right amount of detail. When I said SHUT UP, everyone heard exactly that.
Average gain for talking was close to 55db, thats about 5 inches from the mic.
It picked up just enough of the room behind me to pick up other band members wanting to talk to whoever was in the hotseat.
I'd say for $20, its a steal. I will never try it on anything else so dont ask. I suggest you buy 2 of them, one for you, one for the guitar player in the other room.
