Greetings.

I'm an aspiring highschool student(a 15 yr old sophomore, to be exact) with high dreams. I'm mainly a guitar player, but I also play the bass, piano, trumpet, drums, and bagpipes(!) with enough proficiency to get by. I have a band together that will be doing alot of my stuff, but the stuff on my site is all done by me. The first four are the only ones worth listening to

I mainly want feedback on the first song "I Wanna Tell You" I did the vocals myself, and it's somewhat of a scratch take. Singing is definitly one of my weaker points, so try to look past it. :)

Enjoy and thanks so much!

Flubby tubby low end. Lack of definition on the high end. Mids are slurry. Vocal gets buried in the mix. Drums sound weak. Guitar sounds bad, but is loud enough.

Mix lacks any power, presence or definition. It's just there.

Umm... and keep away from the Van Halen guitar solos. It owned whoever tried to play it.

Your vocals are indeed your weakest point ;)

In the chorus, your guitar sounds really shreeky, did you "line-out" it? If so, don't do that again. Mic the cab/combo. Drums sound too tame during the chorus. If you wanna emit power, then make the drums do more stuff with more power there.

In the beginning, the guitar and the piano are not in sync. You need to work on your timing there.

Your vocals don't cut through (as you said, singing is not your strongest part, but it's the only way to get a better sound).

did you boost the 2.5k on that electric lead solo?
i don't know if its "proper" mixing technique to tell you this but go in and mess with the EQ on that guitar solo, turn it up as if you were rockin out to it at a party and boost and cut the 2.5k and you will see what i mean. your ears will thank you when you cut it a bit :) its very noisy in the midrange there. i'm no recording wizard though so that's all i can really comment about the guitar :(

and what those guys said about the vocals.

don't be too hard on your vocals. you're young and you have an AWESOME voice. just practice, don't be afraid to stick em up at the front of the mix. even if you don't like your singing bringing them out more will help you better hear what you are doing wrong and what you are doing right.
in time you could honestly be a really great singer with those pipes.
