Hi,

I'd like to create the effect used on the vocals in the following sample:

I thought it had something to do with a reversor. A friend told me it is a reversed verb. He said he did it the following way:

Copy about the first 200ms and add a verb to it with a mix of 100. Then reverse it and mix it in front of the original file and make a crossfade.
We both think there must be an easier way....

I hope you guys can tell me how to do this.

greetings

The link didn't work, so I couldn't hear it, but I thought all you had to do to get reversed reverb was
1) reverse the audio 2) add reverb 3) reverse it back.

Here's the correct link:

Well yes that would be very logical but it sounds different.... It is like only the beginning is reverbed or something.... Hmm.. I don't know... Please listen :)

Record on some nice crappy reel-to-reel tape, wind it fast, "tail-in", and let it sit for, oh, 10 years. Bam...instant pre-echo :).

What sean said. You need to blend the effected track with the dry one to make it effective and not washed out.

I kinda did it here. Listen to the first 3 seconds of this and about 1:30 to about 1:56 of this song.

I kinds sounds like he learned the part backwards too, sang it backwards then reversed it so it would be forward.

He sang it backwards sure :D

Hey thanx for the reply... I'm gonna try that... (I'm I'm gonna listen to your track.. it's now downloading...)

reverse reverb

Keyboard magazine from this month and last (Sep/Oct/Nov) has articles on reverse reverb and backwards lyric singing/reverse in the recording techniques column

Hmm.... thanx... is the name of the magazine just "Keyboard" ?
