G'Day,

Firstly a big thank you for all the collective wisdom thrown my way over the last six months. Without this input, we would still be monkeys bashing at typewriters attempting to create the works of Shakespeare.

Anyway - this is a remixed version of a song that I posted earlier, now with the missing drum tracks added. Thanks to all those who helped out on the "how-to" aspect of matching the PC recording with a studio-recorded drum kit. Worked really well.

The song is "Now I See" and is posted at -

Any comments on the song itself and mix in general are appreciated, but comments on the drum sound would really help me out now.

Thanks,

Q.

You need to alow streaming access. The tune is set for "download Only" at the moment.

I didn't hear this before the drums were added, but it sounds like you blended 'em in pretty well. I like the drums sound on this a lot. The song is refresingly odd, too. That weird cut to all acoustic at 3:38 didn't work for me though.

Nice work! Reminds me a bit of They Might Be Giants (at least the voice), Tom Waits and Muse (the high notes from the singer :)); gee, that sounds like a wild mixture :D

I do like the drum sound as well as the spanisch acoustic guitar, the picking sounds very nice. The Reverb on the singer and the drums is a tad too "big" for my taste. I'd try a smaller room/ shorter verb. The distorted guitar and the bass in the chorus are a bit too muddy IMHO, maybe you should roll of some of the low end at the guitar (it's possible that you can turn up its volume then as well). I like the idea behind the acoustic guitar "standing alone" at 3:37, I think it's very original. But I'd turn the volume of it a bit down and would try to give it a bit more presence, maybe by rolling of the lower mids and the bass a bit? Is the voice panned a little off centre or are my ears wrong?

That's all just my impression, it's very very nice already!

i like the drums

very nice sound on the snare and hihats. bass drum a little low imo. couldn't really feel it. but i like to really feel a bass drum.

i love hearing real drums! these are real right?

oh, and i dig this song. forgot to post the first time around. liked it then too.

the drums are very live sounding.....that's fine if that's what you're going for....i don't know, some love it like that, some don't....just kind of an observation, not a criticism...........the mix sounds pretty good overall........some nice singing too........nice job
