Solar Power!!
I had a request for how to find the resonate frequency of a chimney and I found it on a news group so if anyone is interested it goes like this

fo = (1/(2*PI)) * c * sqrt(A/(LV))

c = speed of sound (343 m/s)
A = cross sectional area of neck (m^2)
L = length of neck (m)
V = Volume of cavity (m^3)
Hope this helps anyone with a chimney in their control room!!!!

Anyone thought of lining a wall with bottles filled with insulating wool - it would not only absorb low-mid frequencies but would be a great diffuser and would be very cheap.!

John, Check this out. There's a studio in Nashville, that a guy I know goes to, to record (he's a Country singer-and he really goes there to "schmooze" with the has beens of country like "Little Jimmy Dickens".)
Anyway here in the states, you used to be able to buy Bricks with 6 or 8 round holes in them (it was for the cement to go through, to lock the mortar inside them, to help hold them together).
The set this bricks up so that you could see through the holes, and cemented them in place about a 3 feet away from the wall in their "Big room" (I guess this place was built back when real estate wasn't very expensive because this room is about the size of a football field!), and then they stuffed the inside of this "chamber" with varying degrees of insulation.

They kind of built a heimholz resonator using these bricks. You could see into the little "room" behind the bricks, and they had a door to get in there from the other side.
I was thinking-man, that was kind of inventive. I didn't think it would really work as a heimholz resonator unless there was a certain percentage of the area that had holes in it-but they said they could kind of "tune" it, depending on how much insulation they put behind it.
It definitely looks impressive.

goodone Tim - sometimes you have to be lateral don't you!!

Hey does anyone know the absorption coefficients of a bale hay!! my friend has been considering lining his room with bales of hay to treat his room!!

While you're at it, get the absorbtion coefficient for chiggers.

Oh, yeah. Fire, too.
