These are my drums (Pearl Export, Sabians) miked by Shure PG's running into a Motu (toms are premixed to one stereo channel. snare, bass drum, and the 2 cymbal mics each have their own respective mono channel) into Cubase. with the available equipment with additional VST plugins, what does this mix need to sound kickass? I know that kickass is a subjective term, so what would you do to this mix to make it sound kickass? and I know that things might need to be changed for a final mix with guitars, bass, and mellophone, but I just want it sounding good right now

PG mic's aren't the greatest in the world. this I know. so don't tell me to go out and some nicer mics. it's the best I can do right now.

thanks for any advice

I think you need to add a little more presence to the snare and bring up the volume of the kick and snare. Other than that it sounds pretty good.
