I know it's probably not a verry interesting thread to a lot of you but please take a minute to read this. (and sorry for the poor english)
I have my Tascam FW-1804 for quite some time now (6 years or so) and it always worked perfectly.
But then i installed Windows 7 Ultimate and the problems started. I believe to have tried all the ways the internet told me, but never did i get a good stable connection.
Some say that the device is getting to old but i refuse (and i´m maybe a bit of an oldfashionthinker) to accept that a good working device should be replaced simply because the software is not working good.
But i fear that this forum is my last resort. I really ´need´ to start recording again. I miss it so much.
Is there anyone who can tell me what to do? how to set up my connection between Windos 7 Ultimate and my Tascam FW 1804
this is what i tried (and maybe there is a good way in there but i did it in the wrong way.. i´m kind of in over my head here)
I:
- turned off the onboard FireWire (i use a Texas Instruments FireWire card)
- turned off the onboard soundcard
- updated the firmware as found on the Tascam website
- updated the driver as found on the Tascam website
- used the older version of the ohci compliant host controller (the ohci compliant host controller (legacy) )
- used the updated version of the ohci compliant host controller
- used the Texas Instruments ohci compliant host controller
- tried all the FireWire slots on my Tascam and Texas Instruments FireWire card
sometimes some of this ways worked.. but never for long and now nothing works anymore. On my Tascam the FireWire light blinks aswell as the CLOCK light.
i fear that i am in way over my head. Please.... if you can help me... it would be so great to start recording again...
many thanx to those who took the time to read this and maybe have an anwser
kind regards,
Chiel
